Don't talk to me about brake seal retainers...
First four calipers I did, from an old 84 RRC, were a doddle... :(biggrin):
Then I tried the same from a 94 RRC... wen't through four of my stock before throwing teddy in the corner and taking the calipers down to my local 4x4 specialist and getting them to do it! :(bigangry):
As for the swivel bolts... I used two rings spanners (the open jaw of one hooked into the ring of the other to make along spanner for extrra leverage) till they were 'kin tight... Not much option as the swivel prevents using a ratchet of any kind let alone a torque wrench. :(thinkhard):

It is very easy to damage the retaining rings. I always buy two sets because I always wreck a couple. A suitable sized socket and a sharp whack with a hammer usually gets it in. I did a thread on rebuilding a caliper here:-

Here's what I do,
Try doing it by the instructions in the manual.
Give up after bending more than half the rings on the first piston and try refitting the old retaining rings instead.
Loose temper
Throw the *$£"#@ thing down the garden ans go buy a new one. They are only £60 each new and I value my sanity to much.
Best of luck with an impossible job. Even if you do get them in, they will be out again by June.
