Once more a family has had to be rescued from the causeway to Lindisfarne (Holy Island)
They'd apparantly set off to cross a hour & a half after the safety time had passed!!
Okay, fair enough, they're not local but the signs are there for a reason.
I've been across there in the past & wouldn't even contemplate even half an hour before the time posted (or is that just me)

One word.........................IDIOTS!

I was sitting in the cafe on Lindisfarne one day many years ago waiting to be served.
Some people from Liverpool made a shout about wanting to be served.
They did not understand that the tide was coming in and that they would have to wait until the tide went out before they could cross.
Time and tide waiteth for no man.

Then of course, there was this other helicopter rescue (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/4225905.stm) a few dozen miles to the south-east of Lindisfarne a couple of years ago.
I remember that one being on the news

Another case of a driver with no common sense.

Barrier across the road at time of cloeser "JOB DONE". If the daft people carn't think for them selfs then thats the only way
-
Bet they had to camp out on the little hut on sticks. Mind you it's about 30 years since I was across there so it might have gone now.

how did these half wits pass there tests

how did these half wits pass there tests
The same way as those that can't see speed limit signs, give way to traffic that has a right of way, jump in front of you to take your braking distance off you, park where they want.
I'm sure that you all can add to the list.

i agree, maybe they should put a barrier and job done. As for people breaking speed limits being half- wits... you tellin me you have NEVER broken the speed limit?
I dont in built up areas but i do on the motorway and country roads...i dont think anyone has never done it.

I think the implication is as clear as if you'd said...people who break speed limits.
