Have fitted a CB,now do I need a licence
-
Well in the package i got it says you can buy a licence from the Post Office for £15 a year. So i went to the post office (the main one in keighley) ask for a CB licence form and she said "I'm sorry we havent done those in ages, i dont know who provides them now, why dont you ring the TV licening people!! "
So i'm confused now.

Try here (http://www.ofcom.org.uk/licensing_numbering/radiocomms/licensing_proc_manuals/cb)
Can't find the exact place I printed off my application form, but I'm sure there'll be a link through this one somewhere...
Bit more information about it here (http://www.kcb.co.uk/news63/) and here (http://www.kcb.co.uk/new/data.htm)
Confused? I am... I think you still need one, but you can on;y get one through the post.
Thanks
Ben

Crikey. The Post Office haven't been involved with CB and amateur licenses for ages now.
These are the people you need:

Just rang them and it's £15.

Whats a callsign and does it matter.
-
Call sign shouldn't matter - not many people use them any more. You should get one allocated when you apply...
If you've had a licence previously, then they use the call sign to tie up your application to the previous licence...
Everyone gets a unique one...
Cheers

I'm thinking of getting a CB but I know NOTHING about them, I havn't used one for years and I think a lot has changed.
are they AM or FM now, what sort of thing do I need to get?
Any advice please so I don't waste the money.

Check here: http://www.4x4cb.com
They do packages which includes everything you need. The guy also really good with after sales service, hope this helps

They are FM now.
If you are buying new, make sure you get one with both the UK and EU frequencies on them. (40 of each)
Have a look at the other CB threads further down the forum, there are some links to the usual companies who will be happy to advise on the best model for you.
