How do those of you with more than one vehicle get on with parking them if you cant get them on the drive?
i,m fairly lucky in that the neighbours either side of me are not really bothered and one even lets me park on their drive when i need to :D but the bloke 3 doors up is moaning about me having 4 vehicles :roll:
Bearing in mind up until 2 weeks ago he had three and insisted on parking outside my house so i couldnt with one of them :evil:
so i cured him of that by parking the V8 outside when he went out one day and having 2 on the drive which leaves my work van which i either squeeze in on the pavement or park outside the next door garden to which they have no objection
i try to keep them tidy and out of everyones way which is more than can be said for him who has no qualms about parking anywhere at any angle and generally getting on everyones wick

gwad don't mention neighbours and parking :evil: round here parking is terrible, we have quite a big drive but have to move the trailer off the drive before we go on it as we like to park behind it.... anyhow the lot round here moan if you leave your "car" somewhere for 5secs, while u move stuff around... they come out with "i hope your not leaving that there" its like iv lived here for X amount of time have i ever ever left my "car" on the road for more than about 5mins!
Try our hardest not to park on the road or to close to it to many pikeys round here!

We currently have 3 down the drive, one on the street, 2 at our unit and when my dad comes home his car to park. Our next door neighbour asks us to park outside her house to stop others on the street parking in such a way that she struggles to get in her footpath gate. The only people that ever complain mean absolutely nothing to me, I don't even speak to them other than to tell them to get off my property, should they ever dare to venture, or I will have them for trespass :lol:

When I saw this topic I thought it was going to be about neighbours going from the bbc to ch5!!
My neighbours are great. I have had my 2 cars on my drive, bro's mini on 1 bit of grass for a few months whilst I sold it, a transit van and trailer on the front lawn and caravan in the back garden.
They just laugh and say they dont know what they will see everytime they come home!!
Neighbour opposite is more than happy for me to use all her drive but I dont use it very often as I dont want to owe her too many favours!!! I dont want to become a taxi service!
Luckily neighbours are really good.

the guy thats moaning cant park sensibly anyway,if he does park outside my drive he parks in such a way i cant back out as he overhangs my drive although since i blocked him in with one behind and one in front he,s stopped doing that
what annoys me is when they go on hols they left one car outside my hose for 2 weeks while they went off in the other, how i had to resist temptation to drag it down the road i dont know :lol:

:twisted: We had a single vehicle driveway when we moved in and a shared driveway at the front of the house. Our new neighbour complained about the Rangie we had at the time "marking its territory" with oil on our part of the shared driveway, so we had to block pave half our front garden for an extra space, the other half will go too when our boy gets a motor. Of course we never complain when our neighbour has all his mates round for a BBQ and they block us in!! Definately having a Disco Owners Club meeting at my house one night.

You have no right to park on a public highway. A highway is for the flow of traffic.
If you have a dropped kerb to your drive you can legally drive oner the pavement to your drive. If you do not have a dropped kerb then you are breaking the law by driving over the pavement to your drive. That includes a pavement of a kerbstone wide.
If you have a dropped kerb and somebody parks across they dropped kerb [including yourself] then that vehicle is causing an obstruction.
So you can park anywhere you like in the street. You are not entitled to park outside your own property.
NOW this one.
If you have a dropped kerb and the street is 10-12 foot wide and somebody parks opposite stopping you entering and leaving. They are NOT causing an obstruction.
Please don't ask how I know all this. :roll:
I live in a "normal" semi.
On my left there is a Pug 306 or what ever a tiny thing. On my right there are two cars. A taxi and a little Ford. Between the three of them the need the frontage of all three houses and most of the road to park, leaving no room for annbody else.
Life is so sweet.
Anybody fancy a 4x4 night here ?? :twisted:

I know it is illegal to sell your house as having a driveway if you dont have a dropped kerb outside your house.

Personally speaking, if the vehicles are not causing an obstruction, not parked in contravention of any local parking regulations, not parked on the pavement and are taxed and tested then what is the problem? I've told numerous people that. They didn't like it, but hey, is this a face of concern?
Its the age old story of territory and this bizarre notion of 'my house therefore I can park outside my house'. What a load of blocks!
The whingers like that get right up my nose. They are the ones that call the Police and then moan that we don't do anything! Wasters!

The neighbours I don't talk to had the nerve to come and complain about a policeman parked outside their house one evening. My house was burgled (was my dad's house at the time) and the police had come to take fingerprints etc. They had parked perfectly legally outside the neighbours garden. Now at the time they did not have a dropped kerb but drove over the kerb to park on their front garden. She complained that the policeman had prevented her husband from getting into their yard. He even moved for her although I told him he really didn't have to it was no skin off my nose :roll:

my next door are ok but the people who lived there before where a nightmare as they owned a merc and they thought that they were the bees knees and used to moan about the parking down our street all the time.I could'nt be bothered with them but the bloke across the road got fed up with them and block them in for a morning in protest .Would of made good telly i can tell you

I don't have to worry about it anymore moved to the countryside.
Only problems are getting the shopping. 60mile round trip to local supermarket. 30 mins to local shop in opposite direction so when they run our of milk it's an hours drive the other way then back to the house.
Hey but can't have everything. Couldn't move back to town though no where to park.
The neighbours would hate my angle grinder, all those paint fumes coming in their windows the overspray on their bonnets, the dust from my sander, the noise from my metal bashing, the bright lights from my welder. They'd probably hate the chain saw and get annoyed with the ferrets, the would definatley hate my owls hooting all the time. Probably dislike the mud on the road when I washed my Surf after being in the mud all day.

That is just bizarre.
I went to a colleague dealing with a violent shoplifter,I parked on double yellows, jumped out and began helping restrain the crim, when some bloke came up, grabbed my arm and told me I was under 'citizens arrest' for parking on double yellow lines. This was all in the middle of an almighty bundle!
Needless to say he was given two very loud 'words of advice' and told that if he didn't 'move along' he would be in the back of the wagon as well!

all my naighbours are fine apart from 1 who lives 6 doors up,and he hates 4x4s :x
he parks his volvo in a way to stop me getting on my drive so all i do is put my bull bar onto his car and push it up a bit,3 times in this month it has happond and he always calls the cops,they turn up,see what he has done and tell him not to do it, last week i dented his boot from doing it again so he called them again,but the officer that was there told me not to worry as i can legally move it cos he is bloking my right of way,
i do hate doing it but he should get the idea bye now,2 times he has been done for wasting police time :twisted: :D

My neighbours called out the council 'Neighbourhood' guys to speak to me about parking outside our house. I asked her very nicely if it was parked illegally and she said no. Then she said that actually the neighbours had said they didn't mind if I parked my car outside but not my 90! Then she went on to say they didn't mind when I was working (again legally) on my own car! How very gracious of them! In the end it came down to her asking me that in the spirit of good neighbours could I not park it there. My reply was 'In the spirit of good neighbours they can ask me themselves and not go running to the bloody council!' Car stays.
Best bit is that the neigbours who have complained, regularly park where it is illegal (on a corner) so if it starts again I'll be onto the council myself. Want to count their bleeding chickens - I could store the 110 here too!
Don't let the b@$t@rds grind you down. Your Landy will be there long after their euro boxes.

I park my 4x4 outside my house and my family car in the drive of a house on the other side of the street.
Works well for the both of us as it's their 2nd/holiday home and they are rarely there. They like me to park there to make people think that they are home. :wink:

I live in a cul-de-sac and parking here is a bit of a nightmare. Basically the cul-de-sac is a T shape and I live off one of the T bits. All houses share the shared entrance. We have a drive way each and thats it. Gentlemans agreement, houses have 2 cars, 1 car on drive, one on the kerb. My new next door neighbour has taken to parking on the shared access outside my drive way. Damn annoying :evil:

On the other hand the local Chinese takeaway is nearly on my doorstep, hmmmmmmm :roll: :lol:

have a similar prob. neighbour is ok . bit of a landy man, chap opposite is a complete . well !. double garage 2 spaces infornt of his house and two in the road which he seems to think he has rights too. some one stole his van a few years ago and torched it. one less what a shame.cheers alan...

why have 4 cars? seems excessive if your parking is restricted?
thrasher had 3 i think but had plenty of space to park them all

dont mention parking and neighbours in the same sentence,my offside neighbour has a drive as we do, but hey, he has to park his car right up to our gate post ,making it difficult to turn right out of the drive as the houses opposite dont have drives !! so we have to turn left go all way round the houses to get to the main road which would normally take minutes !! funny thing is though since we havent talked to each other for nearly a year,someone has grassed him up and he's having to fork out £400 to the council for a dropped kerb, good job the caravan is in storage i wouldnt stand a chance of getting it in or out. theres nothing as queer as folk, i'd probably understand it from a 18yr old boy racer but not someone over 50,

swmbo's car was on the grassy bit at the side but has taken residence on the road ,as new turf will soon be arriving !!

GEt on pretty well with neighbours... except guy next door doesn't know the turning circle of a Disco... I regularly am sandwiched (Wifies tucked in close to keep a driveway clear... and he leaves me a foot of clearance... certainly helps my 45 point turn technique!
I do however have a secret weapon... another neighbour cleared his back garden for some slabs and dumped the soil behind a wall at the communal garages... no one else can park there so.... :twisted:

We have permit parking as i live in the centre of town, there is about 26 houses on my street and parking for about 8 cars!!! What doesnt help is the moron in the next street who has a workshop parking all the vehicles he is working on in the various streets around here.
I however am the one that annoys everyone else, cos i have both the rangie and my little brothers fiesta parked up here :D

i have enough space drive space for 3 cars, and i use it, but still my neighbours complain.

At home we have a large farm yard :D, so you only have worry about hunt followers blocking up the roads once in a blue moon and the upperty neighbour going on about people (as in lorries that can't phisically get round without) driving over the small grass tiangle in the middle of the village.
At college the front garden of our student house has been tarmaced so plenty of space for up to 5 cars + a garrage (though thats full of bicycles and about 4 sets of landy wheels/tyres).
The neighbours don't complain to much about the rest of the parking (as in when several other studests turn up) though one did ask us not park on the other side of the road so as not to restict acsse for her hourse lorry. She asked nicely so we duely obliged.
One querry, we have drop kerb on to our drive, but not the full width of the drive, so to park 4 cars abrerst you envariably have to drive over a standard kerb. I expect this is technically not legal :?:

Ooh Yeah! My slightly menty neighbours have gone away for a couple of weeks, so at last I can go out in the garden and have BBQ's and drink beer and play loud music with out getting disgruntled mutterings comming through the hedge! Party on, Wayne! :D :D :D

This is not a parking ticket but, if it were within my power, you would receive two. Because of your bullheaded, inconsiderate feeble attempt at parking, you have taken up enough room for a 20 mule team, two elephants, a goat and a safari of pygmies.
The reason for giving you this is so that in future you may think of someone else, other than yourself. Besides I don't like domineering, egotistical or simple-minded drivers and you probably fit one of these categories.

Might be worth considering. As it would at least give you a reference point as to where your driveway entrnce starts and finishes.
When I get hassled for parking I point out that ownership of their property finishes at their gate, and not in the middle of the street.

trouble is for me its a shared drive so not on the public highway. people that cant drive a nail in a peice of wood are the ones that are usually the ones to block you in, alan.....
