If its no longer 'in service', it will be subject to all the normal regs. Flux should insure under their 'special vehicles' bit, but I'd shop around if I were you.
It may even be tax exempt due to age.
Nice wagon though, great for crowd control

Military or Range Rover section.
Haven't seen one of those for a while. Does yours come with all the rescue equipment?

I think, from the vague memory of a conversation I had with someone else who had one of these, that for the MOT exemtion you need to have the vehicle recorded with the fire service as an auxiliary vehicle - i.e. you may be called on to assist at some point. But there again an annual MOT isn't such a bad thing.
Should be tax exempt anyway as it's pre 73
Blues & twos are also probably only allowed if it's still in service, and there may well be additional regulations that apply.
There is probably an "ex fire engine" club, could be a good idea to find them and find out what the situation is.

If you intend carrying water in it please be very aware they tip. Several lads have been killed on them they loose traction and go off road easily if half full dangerous.
I don't expect you will be on any shouts though and probably not going to have her full of water unless doing demos but on country roads please take care mate.
lots of experienced fire men have come to grief you can't see it coming they just break away from the road especially when 1/2 full.
Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs just had lots of experience with them in the mob.
Cheers H1
Ps enjoy and have lots of fun with it they are nice bits of kit apart from fore mentioned.

Nice but I would remove the front pump and fit a winch!
