was wondering if a seriesIII front 10 spline will go into a defender 10 spline,
if the whole unit doesnt will the carrier?
-
It will fit physically but the ratio is wrong.
-
if you use the same ratio front AND rear it shouldn't be a problem, but your cruising speed will be dropped (lower geared)
-
the reason i ask is i can get a arb out of a series so i can take the arb and put my crown wheel on with some new bearings and be off another buttom on the dash :-)

AFAIK Yes that will be fine.

No 100% sure whether ARBs are the same but a series and defender would use the same truetrac though to fit the series it would need bearing sleeves to suit imperial bearings and a spacer ring for the crownwheel.
If the series ARB doesn't use a spacer ring then I suspect it may position the crownwheel too close to the pinion when put in a defender housing.

If all u want is ARB's, Ive got a pair of em for sale, built into diffs with 4.3:1 gears, 10 spline, fit into a series or a coiler.
Even got the compressor and loom etc.
-
to fit a arb into a series you need a spacer ring to fit it to the crown, so all you do is bin the spacer and bolt the core unit direct to the crownwheel
you will need to remove the imperial bearings from the locker and fit metric if you were fitting it into a 10spline 90 diff housing aswel
beware tho, you need to be compitent at rebuilding diffs to under take this build, ive done about 12 diff rebuilds now, and still i hate doing them

I double checked the ARB spec sheet and its RD03 for the front of a series and the front of my 110.
without the spacer and the right bearings.
