I was wondering if any of the Mud Club members or their fiends are part of the lake District Mountain Rescue :?: :?:
The reason I'm asking this, is that my Mam took a fall up Kat Bells on Monday whilest out for a walk with my Dad.After the call to Mountain Rescue 2 of the lads were there in 10 mins shortly followed by 6 others. They got her down realy fast & softly, cheers lads :D :D
I WOULD LIKE TO SAY MANY THANKS !!!I know my Mam would also when she gets out of hospital, she's getting a plate put in her leg today

Don't worry she will be up and about in no time you can get a HIP replaced these day's and be out in 4 days. If she takes it steady for a few weeks and she'll be fine. Chin up
I'm sure everyone will join me in sending her our best wishes.

A quick search reveals that it was the Keswick Team (http://www.keswickmrt.org.uk/). I'm sure they would appreciate a message of thanks.
Hope you mum recovers quickly.

Its nice to know your donating, all of the mountain rescue teams here in the lakes are basically funded by donations and sponsorship.

Dosnt it bring home to you how in times of difficulty we rely on the RNLI in the sea and Mountain rescue in the hills and our government pays for nothing.
I have to take my hat off to the people who do these jobs and all for free.
I am glad your mums ok, it must have been a traumatic experiance for you all.
-
Aye, its not just these guys though, think of their support network, employers who know what they do and let them go do it at a moments notice, families who wait for them to get home. They should be funded by the government, but the problem is we would all complain if the taxes went up higher to pay for it.
-
Actually I wouldn't complain if my taxes went up to fund some of these voluntary organisations - neither would I complain if they went up to properly fund things like the NHS or libraries or bin collection etc etc - the trouble is that I'm not convinced that the money is properly or efficently spent or managed by the Government
