my auto dimming mirror has a curious fault :? when you look at it it appears to have lost some of whatever makes it auto-dim which makes it look like its half full of some sort of liquid, theres sort of a tide mark halfway down :?
any one else had this? is there a cure or is a new mirror needed?
-
I had this on my P38, it's the liquid crystal running out of the mirror basically. Careful as it's corrosive. A new mirror is needed.
-
corrosive  but it doesnt seem to have a leak anywhere :? there,s no dripping or anything marking the dash underneath, one day it was fine next day its not
damn you solihull more expense
-
On the P38 after a while I got gunk coming out of the bottom of it. Maybe yours is just retaining it inside somewhere. I got a new one from eBay for something like £25 but even though it was advertised as a Range Rover item it wasn't the same as the original; be cautious if that matters to you.

i cant say i use the auto dimming bit that much its just annoying at the minute having a tide line thru the middle of it
-
Both our autodimm units have the same or similar problems - and to replace, the price is astronimcal (£130+ IIRC)
So they weren't replaced.

Gentex (American) units sometimes crop up on Eblag. My old Disco had one with compass/temp, etc. Good bit of kit.
Am I stupid (rhetorical question - no need to reply)? What does IIRC stand for?

Thats just a posh mirror. why not buy a £1.50 mirror from halfrauds? My interior mirror keeps falling off the windscreen and as the tax disk is stuck to the back of the mirror this isnt a good thing! what can I stick mine back on with? It needs to come of again in the future if i need a new windscreen.
