Title: Where to mount Auto shifter
Post by: sam90 on May 29, 2007, 14:38:02
Hi all

I am in the middle of trying to do a V8/ auto (4sp) conversion in my 90.

I have mounted the auto box to the original 90 transfer box, and have used the correct bracket to mount the transfer box selector off the auto, but where is the best place to mount the auto shifter. It seems to be either where the manual box lever was (but this means I have to reach forward to change gear) or cut a whole in the centre seat panel (I dont have a centre seat but I would have to chop my nice steel cubby box!).

What have other people done? Does anyone have any pictures?

many thanks

Sam

I noticed one of the advertisers in LRO selling replica 50th LE centre consoles, if you want to be authentic.  Can't remember who but it was in the most recent edition.

I saw Ashcrofts do one but it is over £300!!! (which is more than my budget will allow!). If someone knows of a cheaper one....

I have a console for mine, but most of the ones I studied first seem to have fabricated a bracket and mounted it on the front of the seatbox next to the gearlever. That way I guess the cable goes straight out back through a hole in the seatbox.

Hi,

Mines mounted on top of the seatbox along with a rangerover handbrake lever as well. I'll be making a custom cubby to fit round it along the lines of the D44 ones.

Cheers,
Andy
