Yes, it could well be.  I take it no prop shafts spinning?  Not out of the question you could have lost 2 half shafts I guess...  but my money is on the diff or the input shaft.

if it is just a pin falen off or a nut or something and taking the top off reveals that then I would say yeah. as someone said to me recntly. Start with the cheap options first!

sounds like the output gear has done the splines in, i seem to recall an access plate in that area you can whip off for a look

Any idea where the plate is, have I got to take the top off or can I access it from underneath.

lie underneath looking up at the handbrake drum and there should be a plate above it with about 6 bolts in if you take that off it gives access to the end of the shaft you,ll be able to see if the splines are u/s then

Did it have a lot of slack when taking up drive before? If so then i would suspect the output gear splines are u/s

It's been too wet to have a look yet but if it does turn out to be the output shaft whats the best fix ?

Another gearbox... either recon or second hand.

<'blatent plug'> I've got a good LT77 gearbox and transfer box going spare (would split) out of my brothers disco and can send on a pallet <'blatent plug'>

Looks like it's the input shaft splines, took the plate off and the shafts going round but no drive to the diff. Can I replace the shaft or is it a replacement box.
