Have you ever lost a magmount :?: on or off road :?: This idea came to me after wing nut replied to a post I'd made earlier :D To start it off I had my car broke into in 1995 & lost 2K of sound system   2 weeks later out with my M8 I put my 6ft magmount on the car & off we went, I did'nt realise a small metal hook had stuck to the mag  We were doing 70mph over the flyover which had a small bump in the road at the top off gose's the magmount & sticks to the o/s/r side panel sparks flying   So pulled over on the grass of the slip road & next thing a cailebria comes up the slip road 70mph plus & hits the end of my twig with the side of his car   He never even stopped
Has any one else got a story :?: :?: :?:

its not quite so glamours but we managed to break our first one when entering one of the local car parks, had done it before and just knocked it off but this time it broke!
-
OUCH :!: The reason I posted this is I'm sure there are alot of stories out there, some good & some painfull like your's bunnie
-
it wasnt really painful.. just scared the hell outta me as it was connected through the passanger side.. and im normally the passanger in the zook
-
By painfull I ment the twig got hurt, If it had been on your pug it would have to be colour coded :D

Errr
Thwaked a runner with the PMR aerial on Monday morning. Wondered why people were looking at me odd then realised it was stuck on the side not the roof, then twigged why the runner in the lane turned round to look at me. Was only doing about 10mph.
The original CB one got shortened in stages as bunny mentioned. Lost the top part of the whip, then the cap from the loading coil, then the coil over about 2 weeks :)

In my mis-spent youth, back in the 80's, I used to have a magmount on my car, with a hefty DV27 twig on it. Iused to forget to take it off when going into multi story car parks. The trail of destruction was quite impressive. Not done on purpose of course, coz that would be frightfully wrong!

hummm im not sure my puggy would have appreciated it...

Had a gutter mounted one ripped off while laning beginning of the month. Got on to tarmac and could hear something scraping got out to check and found it was the coax trailing behind the disco.

About 1983 in my vauxhall chevette hatch Ferrari red  vinyl roof and spots
Oh to be 19 again
Well I was impressing this girl even despite the car  then on the way to the video shop BANG I went under a barrier, the mag mount hit the side of my freshly polished beloved chevetter in Ferrari red
Gutted I was mad  it had a big dent and chip in the body work.
Sort of ruined the night  (well thats the excuse I made for her wanting to go home early)
Why am I telling you all this

Bunnie I was'nt having a dig at your pug :!:
Side mounted twigs seem to be comon

My twig is mounted to the roof rack bars that run front to back. It is with a pretty heavy bracket but easily unbolts on and off in the matter of about a minute or 2. Only down side to a 6ft twig there is when it whips it hits the roof which scratches it which then means it starts the rust off on the roof :( I have now put insulating tape over the end and only put it on when I know other cb'ers are around.
No fun strories for me :(
The rovers leccy ariel catches on some height barriers if I forget to lower it first if that counts? Stil not fun though
