Whats the matter with this thing of mine. Just had a shed load of money spent on it on new seals and here I am just over 2 weeks later and they are leaking again.
Rear main gearbox and handbrake seals are leaking quite badly now. Like I said they have just been replaced by a garage. Why would they leak so quickly after replacement. Is it likley to be a fault with the work carried out on them ?. Its going back in on Thursday.

Possibly damaged the casing when removing the old seals, it's up to them to fix that.

Most likely they've gone and pushed the seal all the way in (as they would think they should), but it then means its running in the groove created by the old one and its gonna wear very quickly or leak. I tend to leave a new seal a few thou outside the casing where it has a virgin bit of drive flange to run on - no leaks.
Only real cure is a new drive flange if its too badly worn.
Other most likely one is that they took the housing off to do the job and didn't clean up the mating faces sufficiently on re-assembly, now the seal is running at an angle to the flange as the 2 bits of the box are not aligned correctly - hey-presto, leak...........

Might be a blocked breather?

Might be a blocked breather?
???

Blocked breather means the gearbox / axle oil (depending on which breather's blocked) pressurises, and may be forced out of an otherwise oiltight oil seal.

Normally its an axle/diff seal that goes, but its a possibility
