about 1 month ago the front wheel on the o/s locked up and the bearing seiezed up, had to grind loads to get the nuts off so all new bit were put on inc stub axle, brake disk, brake caliper, hub, and also new brake pads but now when i'm going along theres a new noise from the wheel
have had the wheel off and on a axle stand and can see the problem its the brake pads jumping up and down in the caliper so if theres any ideas on how to stop it please let me know

pads shouldnt jump so to speak. on the 200 they are forced down with the spring plates and split pin.(not sure what wagon you have) it may be that the pistons on the caliper are not working correctly or the disc is warped. but i would double check you have the right pads.

i have a 300tdi that does that the brake pads and pins rattle so it sounds like a chain being dragged along underneath rattling away, i would imagine a new set of pads and springs will cure mine but if you have put new on i would check they are the right ones

the pads are correct and i have even changed them to to land rover one and it didnot change the noise at all
tyhe moters a 300 tdi
i don't know what to do and cannot afford a garage exploring about at the moment :oops:

the only thing i would do is start swopping part to the oposite side to see when the noise moves over. start with the pads, then the caliper and so on......hopefully that way you can find the cause. are the caliper pistons functioning correctly, you shouldnt be able to pop the pads out "easily" without forcing the pistons back. if its got air int them they may not be putting enough pressure on the pad when not braking giving them more room to freeplay if you know what i mean....

Does it have the springs or shims on there? (new or old?) They are there partly to stop this noise.
If they are, try putting some copper slip on the backs of the pads, this normally stop/greatly reduces the noise on most brake set-ups.
