Post by: Highlander1 on June 20, 2007, 16:09:07
Good god just watched the news and they have banned egg commercial advert by Tony Hancock.

The world has gone bloody mad Suppose I'll get closed down soon for serving traditional fried breakfasts to my guests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ban all cars cos they can hurt if you get run over.
Ban all bikes cos you could fall off.
Ban roads & ditches cos you can come off the road and fall in said ditch.
Ban sweets.
Ban step ladders.
Ban having kids cos they could grow up and fall over skinning there knees.
Ban swimming cos you could flicking drown I have seen the red mist descend.
Ban boats going to sea to catch fish.
ETC
ETC

One thing that they will never ban is tobacco &  alcohol cos without it they couldn't survive the loss of revenue.

Just going to cut some wood for the fire before the make illegal to use a  saw.

Take it you have not see the latest h&s pen pushers stupid idea. In yorkshire the fire brigade have been told not to use blues and two or speed to some 999 calls as they may have a crash. Never mind the damage to propity from a fire of the fact that someone may be trapped in that burning car. Its just goes from mad to totally insane   :?
Oh and here is a clip from there web page. In case you think i am making it up.

   Incident Response Guidelines

New Incident Response Guidelines to Protect the Public

As part of South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue’s commitment to “work for a safer South Yorkshire”, firefighters have been issued with new driving guidelines for responding to incidents.

The new guidance formalises good practice and balance the need to get to incidents quickly with the equal need to get there safely; the aim being to reduce the risk of a fire engine being involved in a road traffic collision and thereby causing injury to the public, injury to firefighters and delay in response time.

Under the new guidelines, firefighters may, for example, respond at a normal road speed to a fire in a skip where it is on waste ground, with no buildings nearby and where information from callers and the local knowledge of officers deem it appropriate.

Tony Clay, Head of Operational Standards & Safety for South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, said:  Ã¢â‚¬Å“Our new policy captures and formalises well established good practice.  We have all seen examples in the media of emergency vehicles being involved in road traffic collisions on the way to incidents.  Similarly we all know that in some (but by no means in all) circumstances, time is of the essence.  Our new policy seeks to balance these equally important imperatives.”

Ive been blue light trained and youd be amazed, drive without em and you can make pretty rapid progress, turn em on and normal motorists become blithering idiots, panic, swerve, slam on their brakes, run into each other in a blind panic cos they see blue lights catching them up. The accident rate does go up so we were trained to only use when absolutely necessary...

Cheers Steve

They say its being banned cos an egg isn't a balanced diet.
So how can they let weetabix etc advertise then ?

It's a sad world we live in when the "do as we say" brigade have so much power...

A bloke can't even take the dog for a walk to the pub and enjoy a Hamlet moment and a couple of pints while the dog lays at his master's side these days.... I wonder what Hancock would have made of that ?
