Title: What in the world is "Fly Tipping"?
Post by: SnakeLogic on June 24, 2007, 15:34:42
I was just reading an article in an older LRO and there was mention of a byway being closed to stop "Fly Tipping".

Where I grew up, COW tipping was popular in certain circles.

Cows, as you may or may not know, can and do sleep standing up.  So drunken teenagers (the ones without girlfriends, I'd wager) would sneak up on them at night and tip them over.  I did hear once of a kid getting stuck under a fallen cow, which is my definition of Karma.

I'm having difficulty imagining how one would manage to do this to a fly.

Can someone educate me?

No not the same. Fly tipping is when someone dumps a load of rubbish down a lane or in a lay by at the side of the road. Instead of taking it to the local rubbish dump.

but must say never tryed cow tipping honest gov ;)

Useually the rubish is building waste or contents of stolen vehicles etc. the sort of things which the tippers would either be charged financial or charged criminally if they went to an official rubish dump.

It comes from Tipping rubbish on the move, or on the fly.
