I had this issue -  horrible sounding metallicy noise from somewhere near the front wheel.  Got underneath with a large screwdriver and found some movement on the front radius arm bushes at the axle end.  Replaced them - noise gone.

However, I' ve just had a prod around again and there seems to be as much movement as before, but no noise!  Suppose thats LR mechanicals for you.

Regards

Dom
