i was on my way to meet my mates to go laning today.
on the way i came across a chap in a disco.he had his bonet up.it was raning really hard so thought id stop to see if he was ok.
this is the prob.i own a suzuki vitara and cos i offerd to help,(all he needed was wd40 and some rag witch i had cos it was a v8 that had gone thro some deep water.) he said i was wasting my time and dont want nothing to do with japs, then shut the door and sat there,
7 hours later i went back the same way and he was still there,,
i know there is always banter between landy owners and zuki owners but if you was in that state would you do the same,
i only thought i was doing the right thing bye helping,,,

I'd have accepted the help. If I'd offered help and been given that response I would have probably thumped him.
Ungrateful obnoxious expletive come to mind.
-
id always be great full of help from someone in time of need
he might still be there
-
thankfully there is people out there like yourself offering to assist.........i have nothing against other models and if it was me i would have accepted.
glad he was still there....serves him right
-
What a prat... serves him right!

i always try and help any motorist that is in trouble no matter what they drive.
the best one i had was on a disco that one of the front prop uj's had given upand left the prop flying round under the disco.
i had my tools in the back of the landy and so offerd to help even gave the block some rag to clean his hands afterwards \:D/
tutherday i stoped to help some bird in a pug- she read some of the stickers on my landy and sayed no thanks  she also was still there a couple of hours latter when i went past later on
-
hope he still there
If I get stuck/break down I will be happy to accept help from anyone.
The basic principle of a combustion engine is the same no matter where it is made

I have helped one lady out who broke down on a roundabout once so towed her into a car park. But.........
where does the law stand on this senario.
Roads works on a motorway and someone breaks down in the roadworks. The traffic is backing up second by second. there are free recovery signs. You pass and have a tow rope in the car. Can you stop and tow them into the safety of the coned off area or are you breaking the law for stopping on the motorway and driving into the coned area?
Im sure that everyone behind would be thankful and the person broken down would be in a safer place.
-
the badge you drive does not reflect what sort of person you are and its just narrow mindedness that lets people down.
I like landrovers iv'e owned 2, a 109" exmod series 3 and a 88" series 3.
I cant fault them its just i have three and a half kids so they are not really practicle and my wife wont let me have a disco as she does not like the idea of sideways facing rear seats with lap belts.
Some people on here get on my nerves when it comes to badge snobbery hence the avitar lol :D :D

Motorway is a different ball game, recovery beacons, hi-viz and you cannot use a rope, it must be a rigid tow (pole, 'a' frame etc)
On a normal road there are less restrictions, BUT whose insurance is affected if it goes pear shape ??

yesterday I saw a 7.5 tonne lorry with 2 banger racing cars on all banged up with a long rope behind it towing a car. It looked like the rope was mounted the the hiab jib or a banger car. It was certainly too high to be around the lorry. rope was about 6ft off the ground.
But what about pushing someone to safety on a motorway in a really slow crawling along behind a snail traafic jam?

UNless you have a hi-vis and are exceptionally careful i wouldn't advise it.
