Title: Engine Change
Post by: Evilgoat on July 02, 2007, 13:15:21
Well looking like the end might be getting closer fo the Rabbits engine. I seem to have lost a sumpfull of oil and no-sign of where its gone. I also have what sounds suspiciously like a valve gone/going and I've not been happy with it for a while.

Now I have seen and heard of at least two 1.8TDI VAG engine conversions using Jetta engines, does anyone know if there are adaptor plates for this or any other VAG engine? What I want is a Gen 3 (A4/New Passat/S3) 1.9/2.0TDI engine in there. Still within what the drivetrain can deal with but a bit more omph and more reliable. I cant see the benefit of going to a 1.6CFi engine for such tiny benefits.

Anyone have any hints or pointers? I would go for a GV2000 engine but finding them hard to come by and about the same price, would rather have a weasle powered vit anyways.

Have found an adapter plate, flywheel and brackets for about £300. Need to get the specs side by side on both engines.

Aparently the V6 from the GV needs chassis rail mods.
