Hi there,
Just got back from a very long a slow journey from just up the road from where I live.
We were at some traffic lights and as we started of to go around a corner the steering was stiff as I don't know! What would this be?
-
That picture in me signiture is our drive and we couldn't pull into there as of this.
-
Something to do with power steering?
-
Forgot to say, the battery light is on aswell since this all happened...
-
Its the belt that has broken, it runs the power steering pump and the alternator drive.
-
Check your drive belt for alt & power steering sounds like its either come off or broke.
-
Cheers guys its that belt I found on the ground.
-
Check the pulleys as well, may have been one that has seized causing the belt to rip off - was the water pump on mine that caused that to happen.

Yeh i asked him that on msn, but he says they all spin free.
He's gone to try and find a belt now.

I had this happen on mine, new belt fitted no problem, BUT proving very difficult to get the belt tight enough to stop the odd squeel on full lock, any tricks for geting it correctly tightened?
-
Yep serpentine belt now changed. Thanks everyone.

On the old single vee belt then try this, loosne the 3 bolts holding teh front pulley, it will flip slightly loosening the belt. Adjust the bracket to taek up the slack, then re-tighten the 3 pullley bolts to really tighten up the belt.
Don't overdo it though.
