Title: Mud Flaps ... Yes or No..?
Post by: Big G on July 02, 2007, 19:21:47
Decided to tidy up the rusted mud flap holders on my 90 truck and of course most of the bolts broke off when I undid them. Now I could spruce em up with a lick of paint and weld em back on or I could put some shiny chequer plate ones on, again tacked on with weld but i was looking at the back of the truck with em off and couldn`t decide if it looks better without them on.

You lot can decide this one for me.........I will go with the majority view..!

Tell me then,or show me with pictures if you have them, what looks best and what I should do........on or off........your call.......!

Nope because they get ripped off very easily, prooved that with my discovery.

The metal doesnt come off but the rubber rips.

Do you need them on for the mot as when they are off they expose alot of the wheel on the rear of a defender
also if you got agressive tyres on you might be firing stones at the cars behind you?

I would just get a nice pair and do what martha said to be honest.

i took them off the front, but left them on the rear.  I wouldnt like to be behind a mucky defender in the rain if it didnt have rear flaps..

My way of thinking is that if they're already there, leave 'em be, and tie them up for off-roading. However, don't go to any trouble to get a new set if, like my own, they rusted themselves off.

i agree mate they do make the landies look bare withought them 8)

and anyway, they don't have to b big landrover ones, just put anything on, it will look better and do the job of stopping stone chips and spray :D

if you leave the standard ones on with a 2" lift its quite difficult to rip them off - more damage is likley to occur bending the metal bracket they sit on.  I speak from experience.

but now I have removed them - its one thing less to break/bend.
