Post by: muky-kid. on December 16, 2004, 23:17:17
:D  Evening all, ive just been updateing my website http://www.offroadpeaks.co.uk Ive added some pictures of the Welsh laneing trip ( had to use Toms piccys as my photos arent ready to put onto disk yet.  =D>  Cheers Tom, hope you dont mind ).
I would like some input as to wether its any good or prhaps youve got some ideas. Its only a cheap basic website builder i use and has limited memory space or bandwith.  Please be as kind or as brutle as you like. I await your witty comments....  :D  :D

:D I use a website builder from http://www.pickaweb.co.uk Whitch has an easy to use website studio, does it all for me dont need to know html and all that. Only costs about £6.00 a month. But i also pay £4.00 a month for the domain name, not bad really considering what i can do with the site builder. Just took a bit of time to get used to it. :D Oh i forgot to mention i also had to pay a one off fee for the use of the website-studio facility £20.00.

Considering you don't know HTML, etc, it works very well! I'll say now that my job is web site development so I could probably come up with a long list of "changes", but the key point here is that it's a personal site and as long as it shares the information you want it to, the rest (look, layout, etc) comes secondary :)

The one thing I would say though, is lose the page transitions   Personally, I think they detract more than add and slow down the enjoyment of your site!

Oh, and on your links page, make the links open a new window so that visitors aren't taken away from your site. All you need to do is add target="_blank" to each link.

I don't quite understand what you mean when you say your website builder has "limited memory space or bandwidth" - those limitations are usually imposed by your website hosting company... or is that what you meant?

I hope the above is helpful, as it was intended :)

It might just be my eyesight but blue text (on the front page) on a green background is difficult on the eyes.
The other pages have black text.

Like the site mike.

There is no need to rub it in about the rock steps

I'd be up for a trip to the lakes in the new year

could be fun in the snow

I pay about £5 a month for the hosting of hollyrise.com, for which I get more stuff than I need to use at present. I've just renewed the domain name for 3 years which cost me £7.60 a year
