Title: TDi/VM gearbox?
Post by: clbarclay on July 07, 2007, 12:40:52
Hi, does anyone know if a 200TDi will fit straight onto the same bellhousing/gearbox input shaft as a 2.4VM? I don't want to buy a TDi and then discover I've got to change the gearbox. I've got to buy a new clutch anyway so that is not an issue.

Hiya,I put a TDI engine in mine .I used the VM gearbox with a TDI bell housing which was a direct swap. The only thing i had trouble with was the spigot bush in the end of the crankshaft. The outside diameter is the same but internal diameter is smaller for the VM gearbox output shaft.I got a bush made by a local engineering firm and all was well.
hope this helps.

If its a bearing and not a bush for the spigot its just a matter of getting a smaller id bearing but with the same od and thickness
