Title: Brake fluid pouring out my 300TDI!
Post by: beatmasterdave on July 08, 2007, 14:26:03
was driving up a hill and had to brake, and my foot went right down to the floor. did this a few times randomly within a few days, now its all the time. checked fluid when it first happened and it was just about minimum. then after a little drive it was right down. topped it up, and its still doing it. checked the wheels and found my rear passenger side wheel was covered in it. im guesing its the pistons? how can i fix it? cheers

You can get a repair kit for the seals but it will be easier to buy and replace the brake cylinder.

As a minimum you'll need a seal kit, but once it's apart you'll probably find that the pistons are corroded and you need a set of pistons as well.

As new calipers are available, I wouldn't bother with resealing them myself, I would just go for new.

I would also advise doing both at the same time, they will be the same age so it's likely that the other side is going to be as bad. It would be a pain to have to do the job again on the other side in a few weeks.

Also, if you do a lot of off roading, then I'd change the brake hose for longer S/S one
