i bought my disco last july, and the transfer box lever wouldnt go side ways, and was really hard to get it into low and back into high. it has never been offroad. got a mechanic to waste a lot of WD40 and apply a lot of heat, and now the lever can move freely. very freely. ive been in a couple of situations where i needed difflock, and its worked once or twice, but most of the time, one wheel is spinning. the difflock light on the dash has never worked as far as i know. i compared with another disco and the lever clicks in to where its ment to be, but mine, you can just blow on it and it will move.
is something missing under there? or does my disco even have difflock? i just heard they might not even have it, like early TD5s.

i have a 300TDI automatic discovery & just like you, even though i have no difflock light on the dash my transfer gear lever goes all the way over and seems to click into difflock but i jacked one wheel in the air whilst in difflock position but this wheel just spinned, meaning difflock not working now i need to strip out the difflock selector to see if it was seized other than that it might mean new transfer box.

As far as I am aware you have diff lock Dave. They didn't take it out until the series 11s.
