im looking at a td5 110 csw (t plate) (ex mountain rescue ) to replace ss.tango disco lost in the floods with all the bits on to start with so no problem there save a few quid there

this is the beast im looking at buying but with yellow lights fitted (shame)

but what are the bits to look out for on such a monster and anything about the engine td5 or drive train that could be a problem

On a 'T' it will be an early Td5 lump, so you need to ask about the head gasket - early lumps used plastic (yes, plastic !) dowels to locate the head onto the block. These dowels melted and allowed the head to shift slightly - when the head gaskets were done, and on newer engines steel dowels were used.

As it's an ex-MR vehicle, it would hopefully have been well serviced and maintained, so ask to see the service history/book.

The wheels look really clean - have they been replaced for some reason ?

Thats from the defender centre in drayton! all ill say is he only sells quality,no rubbish, and offers a warranty

you are correct but as of this morning from an e-mail from them "that one as been sold" but they have 5 others same age about same mileages hopefully one of them will be mine 8)  8)  8)  8)
