I am looking for a cycle carrier for my TD5. Is there such a thing ?. I would ideally like something to fit to the spare wheel on the rear.

Do you have a tow bar?  If so, one of the ones that mount behind the towball would be a good idea, like Witter.  I was recommended to not get one of those that mounts on the spare wheel.

Never had a problem with my spare mounted carrier. Tested on dozens of journeys by now. And I can still open the tailgate with the bikes on...

Try http://www.maxxraxx.co.uk/Racks/discovery.html they do two and four bike racks that fit to the tow bar. Thinking of getting one myself but undecided at the moment, but as they do an adapter for towing a caravan I may end up with one.

Also click on the HOME page link as there is a video showing how it sets up etc.

I've got one that bolts onto the slider for the towbar - it easily carries 4 bikes, and you can still tow with it on.............the downside is that you can only open the rear door a couple of inches !

Pendle also produced some top-notch stuff, but I'll admit I haven't looked closely at one for a few years

Sorry gents forgot to say I will still need to get into the boot with the bike on the back. Thats why I want a spare wheel mounted version. I will be leaving the bike mounted for long periods of time and so don't want to have to take it off evey time I need boot access.

Stu, Can you lock the bikes onto this rack for security. It just that I am going to be doing alot of Bailffing on local lakes and rivers and so want to have the bike on the back most of the time for when I get the odd chance to just pop in and have a cycle around them.

Sure, just get a long bike lock cable and run it thru/around spare. I do this myself but mainly to stop little scroats scarpering with a grands worth of GT.

In effect its locked to the car not the rack which is only strapped on and could be cut off.
