yes they are, one's the reversing light and one's the 30A continuous feed - can't remember the colour code off-hand, the haynes manual has it in. Think the relay would only be fitted if a 12S (grey socket) has been fitted, its part of a split charging system so you don't discharge the car battery trying to charge the caravan battery when the engines not running.

Hope this helps!

IIRC the purple one is the constant 12volt.

I dont think it is on a split charge system as you get 12volts when the engine is off and keys out the ignition. I think it is a continous feed from the battery. This source wont charge your caravan battery. you have to flick the caravan internal switch to car and so you use the car battery and not the caravan battery. Handy if the caravan battery goes flat on a campsite!

the other one is the reversing light.

Here is how I mounted my sockets.

Doing it this way means that you can use the bolt mounting that earths the windscreen wiper and the electric window de icer thingy. It is SO much easier to get to than the mount in the rear door pillar!

When I had my Discovery & re-configured the messed up sockets, I bought a 'Smart-Com' relay from Towsure.

This is a voltage sensing item & doesn't require the secondary cable taking a sensing feed from the alternator output.

If it's fused at 30 amp then the easiset way is as BTM suggest and fit a smartcom relay, just remember it's not going to be waterproof.

I have a smartcom relay fitted to my disco, think it's broken as all the output feeds have 12v even with the engine off...lol
