Title: clock in the dash 300tdi
Post by: beast5680 on December 18, 2004, 17:53:56
right having spent half hour trying to get the clock out of the dash i,m starting to lose my rag with it
haynes book says and i quote" reach round and unclip lower clip and slide out clock, cant find clip even if i could fit my hand in there under the dash, it will not come out no how and removing the switches underneath is of no help unless i remove and unscrew the cupholder bit that it is part of

Help!!!

get two credit cards, insert one above the clock and one below. The idea is that you push in the two tabs (one above , one below) that hold the clock in place with the credit cards and then pull the whole thing , credit cards and clock, towards you. Should take about 30 seconds!

Taking it out is the easy bit. It took me 5 attemts to rebuild mine so that the display worked, all I wanted to do was change the bulb. Unfortunately track was damaged so had to take it apart

Mine was kaput when I bought my Discovery.
Eventually decide to 'upgrade' & bought the soft-dash Range Rover 'Classic' analogue clock.

Looks far better.

But on the original point, they are a complete swine to remove. I took several attempts

I could be wrong here (Iknow, I know, I usually am) they used to fit the same clock in the old shape Astra and cavilier. Even the same surround.

Glad you got it sorted. I must give credit for that tip to LRE forum though! Makes up for some bad advice I gave about changing a starter motor on a Defender.....

Doesn't really help you, but on my 200TDi, the clock falls out if you just touch it in the wrong place.

Great British build quality, there.
