Title: Discovery 1 Rock Slider Question
Post by: katenrob on July 14, 2007, 17:18:14
In the near future i am hopfully going to buy some rock sliders for my discovery. I,m looking for some that are like the one,s fitted to Electric Blue Badgers 90 but mill services who made them have stopped doing them now.
Does anyone know anyone who make this sort of slider or if anyone has taken over mill services work. If not sure which one,s i,m on about you can go to www.bobtail.org.uk then on to his defender bit.
Hope you dont mind me linking your web site.

Cheers Rob

I personally use "discoparts" they have been on there for 3+ years and not damaged them so far, i also have the tree sliders fitted to  um, they are attatched by about 8 bolts each side which bolt right through the sill, makes them very sturdy, Im sure there are plenty of others out there? Just my tuppence worth

I use Discoparts too.....

Excellent. Strong, well made, well designed & easy to fit. What more could you ask for?

They look good and the price is not to bad either. Will keep them in mind when i make a decision. Just wanted a slighty bigger slider if that makes sence.

i think your're on your own there, i hate them! i got them to go on series3 (now departed), they are 31/10.50/15 so you have to think abit if driving ruts  as there only 30.2" high. but they do tuck into the archs quite well. :D

The ones I got for my Disco were from a guy on the David Bowyer stand at last year's Billing Show. Cost about £150 if I remember correctly.
They're very strong, got a special ramped forward edge to ease over bumps, have tree slider bars and jacking points.
They attach to the body chassis mounts rather than the sills so if they do get a bash you can still open your door.

same tube as our i think you will find, the disco in our pic was the first set ever done, never did them with that smaller tube, plus ours have the jac points.

Had my sliders made bespoke for less that the price of the ones in all the main adverts.

These can be made so the main bar sits either flush with the bottom of the doors or so it protrudes slightly - then the tree slider extensions can be made appropriately.

These are absolutely solid as they are welded to the chassis and have already been used (successfully   ) with a highlift jack.

Will try to post some photos.

muddymart if you mean the black one in front of mobis disco that would be mine she is running on 265 75 16 bronco dirt devils  but with a two inch lift they are still catching the arches front and rear wen you drop into any hole so it would be best to stay to a narrower tyre
