Title: 300 tdi lift pump
Post by: smith335 on July 15, 2007, 01:11:33
i think my lift pump is broke.
i changed the fuel fliter, and went to use the lift pump primer to prime the filter, nothing ,cranked the engine incase it was not catching ,still nothing.
there is no resistance when you pump the primer.
is it broke?
what effect will a broken lift pump have on the engine, performance?
do i need to change it?
if so how easy is it?

would anything else point to a faulty lift pump?.

You might need to wind it over for a while until the filter refills wih fuel.

thanks for yor replys.
i have filled the fuel filter by hand and the engine starts and runs fine.

i was just concerned that if the handle was not working then the pump might not be working as well.

will the engine still run normal with a broken lift pump?
what would happern if the lift pump was broke, what effect on the engine would it have.

the disco does feel a bit slow, but it is a auto, and i allso drive a td5 disco,so it could just be that, that makes it feel slow.
