Post by: corrosiverob on July 16, 2007, 18:31:08
Hi all, i had a small shunt yesterday while green laning and it snapped the drivers seat base, been to the scrappys today but no discos or rangies in but started to look at other 3 door cars to see if i could transplant some nice comfy ones in......

has anyone changed the seats for a non standard ones, how easy is it and which is the best car to take them out of???

Just putting a set of Range Rover Classic seats in mine. So far I've removed my existing seat & its base and found that that a Discovery seat base is far smaller than a Range Rovers. Not a problem though I just need to fabricate a frame to join the both halves together.

Probably the best way of doing it, the RRC seats are quite plush and have the armsrests, otherwise I'd say look at high end Volvo, BMW or Merc.  Most RWD cars will have narrower seats because of the transmission, just like a LR.

I put a cheap set of bucket seats in mine about £100 quid the pair, they bolted straight onto the existing base with the aid of some thick chequer plate. I appreciate this doesn't help much if the base is shot, but they are worth thinking about, comfy on road and excellent support off. I got them in suedo leather (sounds worse then it is) as they wipe off easily.

Hi

I recently fitted Range Rover seats in my 95 disco.

There is a full write up with photos here:

Definately an improvement on the originals

Hope this helps.
