Title: Silicon Intercooler hoses
Post by: Sharpshooter on July 19, 2007, 18:46:47
Hi all.

Im off to billing on saturday. Im after a new set of mt's for the Disco. Andalso some silicon hoses.

My question is, are they worth the money without an uprated intercooler?

Cheers Wayne.

Not sure if there any good without the intercooler but PADDOCKS do the three silicone hoses for the turbo for £75.

Silicon hoses do nothing more than last longer and look prettier, arguably thay can withstand more boost pressure but a std hose is more than up to any boost you are likely to use.

What are you expecting them to do?

Just spat tea all over the office.

£75, does that include fitting?  holy cow.  I got some blue ones thrown in with the intercooler but I fancied swapping them for red ones, don't think I'll bother.

They do actually make a noticable difference, especially if your old hoses are tired. They work better as they are structurally firmer than the rubber hoses and don't distort, therefore allow greater air-flow.

You are in the best position to judge.  I'll have to use some silicone hoses as the intercooler pipes are different on mine.  Can't wait to get it back though

Well. I bought an Allisport full width intercooler at billing yesterday. I fitted it in haste last night and was well pleased. I adjusted the boost preasure and the diaphragm, as per their instructions. I droveit this morning, and WOW.

But tonight, i have cleaned and waxed her, so i though i would see if i could improve it.

I actually backed the boost off a very small amount, and it hasimproved it.

So now i have a disco pulls like a train, and looks the danglies.

Smiles all round.

And yes, it was worth the money.
