hopefully going to get my new snorkle fitted this weekend, have not removed the intake trunking yet but the water drain point/s look different to the 200tdi ones, I am going to assume they still need sealing unless i hear different, but how ?
cheers kevin

I've considered one, but don't forget wading depth is still restricted due to the ECU location
Unless you buy the relocation cables, or know a man/woman who can make appropriately lengthened ones up................

Been told the dump valve isn't too bad on a TD5 so I didn't bother sealing mine...

But as long as you put the duct tape over the drain hole under the ECU Richard then you don't have to worry toooooooooooo much  Having said that I haven't been much above quarter way up my door

I'll have a look at that Helen, there's always a roll of tape around.
I had to use it yesterday, as I was wondering why the carpet kept gettign wet under the 2nd row seat - there was a piece of (sodden)masking tape covering two 2" holes

Hmm, i had water over the bonnet on many occasions in my TD5 90 and the ECU never missed a beat :)

Am I just being paranoid then???

Not Paranoid Richard, safe! As I said when I have the duct tape on I will wade higher than the ECU but I don't like to go in water for too long just to be safe

Probably, but then i cant guarentee yours will be as water resiliant as mine was :)

it's all well and good having water up to the bonnet height while moving, but if you hit a rock and have to stop and then you cab fills up to dash height, your ecu wouldn't be so resilient then.
The TD5 ECM is moderately splashproof if you seal up the breather holes on the base, but it's far from waterproof. Sealing seat box will help, but best thing to do is to extend it higher up.
Same goes for 10AS unit behind the dash.
Frankly, constant deep water wading will cause loom, instrument and other electrical problems eventually in all Defenders, so unless it's a plaything it's worth avoiding where possible.
Cheers

It spent a lot of time in places like the strata florida and other deep puddles for extended periods without harm, but as you say its not waterproof - the door seals certainly leak!
