I need my new tyres fitted but dont want to pay £40...
i dont want them balanced or new valves etc. just the tyres putting on the rims....
Anyone know anyone who can do it on the extremely cheap ? :) :)
Oh yeah im in bristol :)
-
next time you see a ats trye fitters van just ask him nice and for some beer tokens he may just do it. It used to work for me up here but now my nice ats man has moved and i dont know who the new man is yet
-
get your self some tyre levers.
Valve's are supposed to only be used the once though.
-
Dont fancy it myself!!!!
perhaps i may have to wait a week or so and pay them then :(
-
Wait for the local tyre fitters boss to go out and then speak to one of the tyre fitters how much for cash. Did that the other weekend. It should of been £50 to take off ol;d tyres and put my new ones on. But he did it for £30 cash with new valves and balanceing as well.
-
A place near me does then for a fiver each, shop around some of the smaller centres, especially ones who deal in 2nd hand tyres you may get one
-

Wheeler, how far are you willing to travel, I'm in Poole & will need 5 tyres fitting soon? I could meet you somewhere if need be?

Well Graham if he can do my 37's then it might be good as i'm just outside poole :)
-
My mate runs a tyre place near newport south wales. £5 a tyre and not too far from bristol although there is the bridge toll
-

-
i can do alloys with oud damaging them yes but 37 in are huge all check my machine to see if they will fit
-
ballancing extra 2 quid with tyre change to cover weights
-
Cheers Wheeler, will do.

I always change my own, if you get good tryes at cost without the balancing you can save a fortune.
The valves are in boxes and work out at less than 25pence each the garages have to pay for the overheads staff etc so I understand why some charge £3.50 per valve. But they then charge fitting and balancing on top in lots of places.
I use tyre soap cos washing up liquid has a corrosive in it!
To break the bead on the old tyres I drive onto the tyre which works well sometimes takes 2 or 3 runs revolving wheel each time and getting a guide/ friend to watch you on so you don't damage the wheel.
Tyre levers a piece of plastic to go between the lever and the rim then tap lever round with a hammer.
A bit of practice and you'd amaze yourself at the achievement.
Used to change bus and truck tyres the same way co's we didn't have a wee machine to do it.
Cheers H1
Ps wonderful satisfaction in DIY

try your local landy garage, or any old garage... some will try to charge you extra for "4x4 tyres", but if you look around you'll find places doing it for 5 quid per tyre
-
i use our local ats and usually get asked for a couple of beers worth of loose change...thats taking 2 sets in a time...(last time i had one set stripped down and another set built up)...cost me £6 in all :D
