OK. I had a long wheel base shogun, 1996, and fitted a set of Kumho 33x12.50r15 mud terrains. They went straight in, didnt rub anywhere and looked great. Then it got nicked......
I found myself an immaculate Pajero, 1994, and SWB, so thought, Ill get another set of 33's, theyll be great. However, when I looked at it, there didnt seem much space in the arches around the 29" tyres its got fitted. When I measured space wise, there is no-where near enough room for 33's. The tyres would foul about 1 inch deep at some points. The suspension on the new one isnt sagging etc, so Is there a difference between the two, other than 700mm in wheelbase?
At the mo, I recon 31's are the biggest I can get in there.
Baffled!!!

just crank up the torosian bars and stick sum lwb rear springs in that will fix ya problem

thing is, my swb stands taller than my lwb did, yet seems to have less room in the arch. Im confused. The suspension on my old un was(id say) a bit sagged. The new un looks much taller, has more room above the tyre etc.

that is a bit odd, only thing i can think of is the extra inch/2 inches of body lift that comes with the winter pack on a pajero, but then it would sit higher than your lwb? Errr, just go for 31s or lift it, as that seems odd, although to be fair i only even went to 32s on my swb without a lift, never heard of 33s going on without a lift!

Just got 31's fitted(kumho kl71's) they look nice, lovely tread pattern.
From what I can gather, the Shogun lwb has a 30mm body spacer kit on from the factory and so that might be why the 33's fitted so easily. Either way, They rubbed nowhere, but would definitely not have fitted my new un.

31" is the norm with Shoguns and Pajeros your LWB might have had a 1" lift which is normally only standard on the Pajero winter pack.
I shall have some 1,2 and 3" body lifts available very soon at a good price if you are ever tempted
