Title: Low Cost 5 ton hand winches/pullers ?
Post by: carbore on July 30, 2007, 15:58:05
Hello,

I am thinking of getting a low cost 5 ton had winch for various jobs.I have a 5 acre small holding Cornwall, have a freelander as I also commute to Gloucestershire a lot, but the road to home is almost greenlane and the shortcut to the coast is definitley a bit off road..

Hand puller is for.

Pulling my ride-on tractor out of the filed when/if it gets stuck (cant get freelander through small gates)
Pulling logs,fences etc
Wire straining
Maybe some lifting
Maybe loading tractor/heavy stuff into freebie (may bet a defender pickup soon too!)
MAYBE pulling the freelander if its stuck!!!! ?????? (Snow/light mud)

NOT axle deep in mud as I know its not going to be a Tirifor/Winch replacement and I dont do anything serious in  the freebie!

Are these things any use or are they a total liability, also is 5 ton 5 ton rolling or 5 ton lifting ?

I have a 3 ton puller and to be honest i cant do without it!
Have handwinched myself and others out of a few situations and it doubles up as a hoist for lifting gearboxes into place!

Cheers

Mark
