Having got my Disco and got some toys for it, I wandered out to my garage and pulled out my trolley jack only to discover it is only rated at 1.5 tonnes and seems to be knackered.
I now need to go and get one more suited to the weight and height of the Disco.
Any recommendations ?
I've looked at Clarke ones etc and can't work out what is best... :?

There is a trolley jack review in LRO int this month. Try thier web site, or buy the mag.

We just bought one from halfrauds for £24.00, its a 2ton and it does the trick perfectly :D even lifting up high enough to fit 235/85/16's on the vehicle :D

1.5 ton should be enough to lift a whole disco axle clear of the ground, or one by one sill to get both tyres on that side clear. The jacks rating should already include a safety factor. 2 to 3 tons should be more than enough, any more and the jack will just be too bulky/heavy for what you want.
Not such a problem with smaller torlley jacks, but most new trolly jacks have no way of locking the handle, which makes manovering them a swine. Likewise I don't like the trolley jacks which you have to twist the handle to work the loering valve. Neither of these problems will prevent a jack from working, but they do make the jack less user friendly.
