Title: Whooo, Delorean comming back.
Post by: Evilgoat on August 01, 2007, 13:56:04
Well its survived a lot, including two aborted attempts to make new versions that came to nothing.

Delorean USA have decided after a few years of indecision are going to start handbuilding the DMC12 again.

Wonder if the Honda Prelude based Delorean 3 will make it later?

'We will proceed as planned and once we return to 1985 I'll destroy this infernal machine. Travelling through time has become much too dangerous.”

No need

Just take it to your local GM dealer who will break the camchain and destroy the engine.

Cost them $12000 to put right though.

If Maggie Thatcher had invested the same amount of cash in Stonefield as she wasted on Delorean we would still have one of the best, most capable 4x4 trucks in the world - a vehicle capable of rivaling Steyr-Puch.  Instead she was in thrall to a yank con-man (a bit like Blair was) and let Stonefield go to the wall.

Bit harsh. JZW was a great designer of cars.

BUT he was no business man and tbh the only reason the Delorean ever got the following it did was the doors and BTTF. The cars as they rolled off the line were awful. Having driven an unmodified one I made a point of getting it tweaked as soon as I had the money.

Theres more than a few very successful cars out there with his name on. He paniced when he realised the budget wasnt going to fit and turned to the wrong people for financial help.

think something like 80% of the cars are still around though :)
