does any one know how much it is roughly to have a head skimmed (it is a V6 essex by the way)?
-
Your looking at £50-£60, well, thats how much I got quoted, or have I been ripped off?
-

It'd be best to take both off actually... being a v6 you wouldn't want different compression on one side to the other would you!!!

We pay about £25 per cylinder head.

yeh yeh i will be taking them of my-sef, one of the gaskets are bubbling so i thought wile i have the head of may aswell get it skimmed, so you would advise taking both of them to be skimmed?

I paid £80 to have both heads off my v8 skimmed a few months ago. I took them off and stripped all the valves off myself, then reassembled them again myself afterwards..

i may aswell have them done then. while im hear save starting another thread how will i no i cn use this engine with unleaded fuel? is it expensive to change to unleaded and does it realy matter, cant i just run it unleaded any way? the engine was put in ten years ago and had an MOT up untill 2 years ago so chances are it probly does but just to be shure.

I pay £20 a head for the V8 as they take a bit of setting up. Hoping it will be the same for the TDi as it looks like it's cooked after a rad failure.
