Cant see that external checks would have prevented engine failure???? How could the pilot have forseen engine probs anyway??? If it "is" fuel mixture that was at fault.... then surely the fuel supplier is at fault.
I used to fly weekly with an ex employer to Cherbourg (France), he always checked flaps/rudders/engine oil etc.... but had no-way of checking the fuel the tanker was pumping into his craft.

Oh dear, I posted the wrong link
Although that one is interesting this is the one I meant to post, I was reading one after the other

All i can say is this civvys just don't understand what a milliatry person goes through when he is injured and the help his mates and family can bring to him. Plus with all the mill hospitals cloused down they need somewere to recoup. thay moan enough when a solider is brought into a civvy hospital for tretment. Wish thay would just keep there noses out and let these heros recoup in peace. god Knows they may need there help one day

Cant comment on that one  , may get kicked off the forum for my strong views on stuck up folk who havent the decency to consider unfortunate families needs.

Local authority has passed the planning application, despite locals not wanting it.

Thats good to hear, I was not able to track the outcome of this yet
Glad someone in authority saw sense and made a sensible descision for a change

They aren't carrying out major building works, it just the thought of the non wealthy having access to their little rich people only estate.
But if it wasn't for the people needing these facilities, then all the money in the world would save them. Selfish bunch of sods, the lot of them.
Hope they never have to go through what the military do, while being treated like dirt by the civvies for doing it!
-
Thank god for common sense, I spent 4 months at Headley Court after breaking my back back in 1989 and the facility is fantastic. If the public saw some of the horrific injuries young lads are struggling to overcome there they might have more appreciation for the centre.

Thats it though, the military like to treat their own, in their own facilities, it works better for them to be in a similar environment to what they are used too
Just wondering what if they had military patrols around the place, think they might like a couple of scimitars parked at the entrance, instead of a couple of stone lions on the gate posts

So, they want people to do is spend months fighting for [/i]their[/i] country and safety, get injured then be sent 'home' to their <edit> (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=42831) little room to recover whilst posh <edit> (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=42831), like them earn hundreds of thousands and are only in danger of falling off ladders whilst trimming their topiary. As long as they are safe, and the Terrorists dont bomb their village, they are happy.
<edit> (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=42831) 'Em
Rant Over

Headley Court is a rehabilitation centre, the treatment phase is over by the time you get there, it's the long term recuperation that they specialize in, both for servicemen who are going to have lifelong disability and for those who hope to eventually return to service.
When I was there it was mostly servicemen with blast and gun injuries from NI and a large number injured in the Kegworth aircraft crash, I recall one guy who had lost both his arms from the elbow down yet still got <edit> (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=42831)in the mess and managed to laugh about it all. I'd love to force some of the local NIMBY's to meet these guys and tell them face to face why they opposed the plan
As you say, there is no better environment for any servicemen to be than this, surrounded by people of your own age etc with shared experiences and the competition element of recovering as fast as possible.

I was listening to Jeremy Vine's phone in on this matter, and was absolutely staggered by what I heard. I am not Ex-Military, but my eldest son served for a number of years, and to hear the reasons that these people who were Anti the idea were just crass.
None of them were prepared to talk on air (funny that!), but reasons included were, more congestion (?), more litter (??) and the place becoming a potential terror target!
Vine was not impressed with them at all, and a couple of people who called in got very short thrift from the pro callers.
To sum it up, basically the whingers were saying that they had worked long and hard for their homes in that area, and didn't feel that 'that sort of establishment' was appropriate'.
In other words, they probably want to return to the 1800's where all people who were not 'normal' should be locked away in workhouses.
Absoulute wasters, all of them! I hope that the values of their precious houses plummet. They are beneath contempt.

Indeed, one of the reasons against this house being available for families was that there would be too many vehicles trying to park there, but as JV pointed out; it's already a 7 bedroomed house, and if the occupants are all adults, well, there'd potentially be 7+ cars there anyway. Bl@@dy NIMBY's put em all up against a wall and shoot em!! (and then use THEIR houses too!! )
-
I heard that phone it to, and was outraged and very embarrassed that anyone could stake the stance those residents took over this facility.
Im sure I heard that permmision has been granted for the center :D
Let those residents get out of their cottonwool world and enter a war zone for a few months, then offer then no help.
-
I have the perfect solution, the gov't should just CPO the whole damn street, especially if they pay out the average cost of a suburban detached house rather than the amount those selfish <edit> (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=42831) paid originally.
I just cannot believe people can be so uncharitable, I'm disgusted.

one question that should of been asked if it were sixty years ago and it was a different war, one that uniteed the counttry more than the one(s) that the current members are in would teh outcome be different, i bet they would of offered thier own homes,
not any personal views i am a serving member and seen some of the consequences of conflict...
ok the "war"/fight on terror may not be a popular one but these people are still the defenders of the crown and the land, some people say when we get injured we are lucky to have lived, but when you see what happened to us i would rather die,
for every death there is at least 4 to 6 people that are maimed or injured and have to relive the moment when they saw thier best mate die whilst trying to stop themselves bleed to death through the stump where a limb used to be and still protedct tehm and the area from the mobs/enemy...
living is not a nice place fter that, and to add insult to injury the government has only just recognised that the tours we do are an active factor in our lifestyles... (different rant)
so they should be grateful that such heroic and proud people are so close...
i would like to stick them in the green suit and give them 24 hours of we go through
