2002 TD5 Disco
It takes ages to start and you need to pump the peddle
When it dose run its very resurved and won't rev over 2000 and no guts.
I did think it could be fuel pump? I lay with my ear to the tank and got the boss to turn the tey to 1 and no noise from the tank. Is this right?
Any ideas?

There should be an audible hum from the tank area when the ignition is turned on. Easiest way to get at the sender unit is to cut the carpet in the load area. If it is the 7 seater model, remove the plastic trim from the floor of the load area and cut the carpet at the far end of the holes (if that makes sense!)
The pipes unclip easily and a few taps with a hammer/screwdriver will get the collar off.
If you do need a replacement then try http://www.breakeryard.com/
I tried them when I thought my sender unit was on its way out and they could supply one for around £65 delivered.
Don't forget to check the fuses :) and the fuel lines can chafe which allows air into the system

There a relay for the fuel pump - worth checking that, but chances are its the high-pressure side of the pump that has failed. Easy to replace, and no need to chop the carpet, just unscrew the trim by the rear door (and the rear seat floor fixings if its a 7-seater) and fold the carpet back.
