Title: Here we go ... the first of many problems I expect
Post by: SteveGoodz on August 05, 2007, 16:09:31
Took the grandchildren to Weston-on-the-Mud yesterday and parked up on the beach. Thought it would be a bit of a laugh to select low box and diff lock ~ both totally unnecessary, I know ~ on the sand.

Problem? Transfer lever won't budge in any direction ~ can't get it out of high range/unlocked  :(

Where should I start looking first?

i suspect the lever is seized in the top housing it sits in on the gearbox, i had the same on one of mine, you need to just lie under it first and check the linkage but if thats all correct your going to be taking the centre console out to get to the housing to unseize the lever shaft

[!Expletive Deleted!]! It'll be just my luck to need the centre console out ~ I had it out on Friday to remove a handsfree car kit  :(

Anyone interested in a Nokia CARK-91 handsfree and Nokia 6310i phone?

This can be a useful link (http://home.twcny.rr.com/eeibooks/rover/discodifflock.htm) when trying to free a stuck CDL.

On the subject (almost). I used to own a Disco V8 which would never select diff lock - Hi/Lo was fine. Turns out it was retro fitted with a RR Viscous Box of tricks so it was working as intended.

Oohh! Hadn't thought of that one. Anyway I've added this to the list of additional jobs for my man to do ~ if you're really posh, get the butler to do it  :D .

The list is growing by the day  :(
