Title: Filling diffs, gbox etc.
Post by: chris.hunt22 on August 10, 2007, 21:56:43
I haven't a haynes manual to hand (well apart from the extreme off road one!!), I am planning some maintainence on the disco and have a few easy questions, it's a 300 tdi 1996 with a manual box.....

Diff oil...type, amount, ease of changing, cost of oil

Gearbox oil....as above

Transfer box oil......as above

PAS oil.......as above

Filter over back axle...is this a fuel filter, if so is it worth changing??

Thats it I think, have done engine, fuel filter, brake fluid etc. unless you can think of owt else that I could do, want to pamper it a bit to keep it reliable!

Diff oil...type, amount, ease of changing, cost of oil - should be EP90 gear oil

Gearbox oil....as above - LT77 box is ATF

Transfer box oil......as above - should be EP90

Filter over back axle...is this a fuel filter, if so is it worth changing?? - its a water seperator, just undo the drain plug at the bottom

I can tell you with some certainty NOT to fill the manual box with EP90.

The 300tdi has ATF 11 although some people choose to put MTF95 in it (i dont)
