Title: Too big??
Post by: craigderby on August 21, 2007, 19:30:12
I've got a set of Colway MT's in the garage not doing much and I thought I might put them on the SJ.  They're 31/10.5X15's, but I was wondering if they'll be too wide and make it float too much instead of digging in.  What do you reckon?

I would want more traction...  :?

Wider tyres have more surface area, why do you want to get dug down?  :(

dont get me started on the physics side, oops to late... Pressure = Force/Surface Area, basically if the force applied to the ground ie the weight of the vehicle remains constant, and the surface area increases the pressure applied to the surface is reduced. therefore you wouldnt dig yourself down more, they would actually help you plod over/through the mud. obvoiusly it also depends on the thread, colway mt's arnt bad. you could just put them on and if if they fit, then make a diy rti ramp to see if the snag any on the bodywork.
