Can i take the 200tdi engine out of my three door and having removed the
300tdi engine in my four door slot it in .Will the 200tdi work with the 380 gear
box or will i have to take the Lt77 out as well
This is a short term measure until the 300tdi is rebuilt maybe by xmas!
regards to everyone

No such word as can't. IIRC the 200and 300 TDi will work with either gearbox, the engine mounts might be different though :? and the exhaust.

As long as you can cut and weld on the engine mounts....., twice

After reading the comments herein and discussing the proposed swap with my mate Brendan (mechanical genius) i am just going to have to find the money to rebuild the 300tdi.
The simplest solution is to sell my 3 door 200tdi very reluctantly---
to finance the rebuild.
Ah well such is life

What about buying a runner S/H?

If i have the 300tdi re-bored new head gasket (and its been skimmed ),replace the cam belt and clean the injectors ,fit new core plugs which was the source of the original problem, that and the wiring from the tempreture
guageto the sensor,Then maybe i will have a nearly new engine.
Any comments gratefully recieved

My 200 runs with an R380 great box no problems!
I thought that the 300 was basically an upgrade of the 200 so the mounts would be the same??
-
nope, engine mounts are different

The engine mountings on the 200tdi disco are further along the chassis then are the the mountings on the 300tdi.Having weighed up the pros and cons, i am going to put the 300tdi lump back in after its rebuilt ,even though i believe the 200tdi to be the better engine.
