I gave me disco an oil change yesterday, went to grease the prop shafts & UJs, all went ok until I got to the front prop!
Theres no grease nipples for the sliding joint or on the double UJ, how can I make sure the get greased up?
Any ideas appreciated. :?

The Haynes book of lies says there is a grub screw which you remove from the propshaft and insert relevant grease nipple and apply grease. Remove grease nipple and replace grub screw
Easy peasy. So easy that I haven't gotten around to doing it yet

Hmm
Thanks for that, I will have to check it out but I must say I had a good look to see just in case there was some way of fitting a nipple.
Must get it sorted, have you seen the price of a new front prop!!!! :o
Will let you know the outcome.

take it off....pull it apart and grease the shaft directly. grease nipples are easy to get hold off.
oh and dont forget to put a mark to re-align it when you put it back together

Yeah, that's what the factory manual says aswell, due to the 'proximity of a chassis crossmember' :-k I wonder why mines got a nipple permanantly installed then.
As for the double UJ, or Hookes joint, it is 'sealed for life' , but there should still be a grease nipple on the front UJ (My V8 DII has got one)
If you found the nipple on the rear prop sliding spline joint, then the grub screw/nipple should be in the same place on the front prop.

mine was missing a nipple on the rear prop UJ, after a bit of scraping around i found a hole, and promptly slipped one in...
other nipples seemed a bit reluctant to take grease (spraying out around the nipple, so my next job envolves the deep 7mm, a dish of boiling water, and a toothbrush!

Thanks people, will be under the truck again this weekend.
Will probably remove the prop to grease & have a good luck for a grub screw or hole.......
Love how the Hookes joint is sealed for life! mine must be one of the ones who's life is nearly over then, its very 'damp' like when you grease the other uj's and excess gets pushed out. :?
Still, I will report back after me investigation.

Got it sorted!
Jacked a front wheel up so I could turn the prop by hand, found a small screw right where you would expect a grease nipple. It took a 1/8 Allen key to remove, I then 'borrowed' the nipple from the rear prop to attach and apply grease......WOW it took over 3/4 of my cartridge (basically finished it off) before any sign of grease in the seal!
I'm glad its done, especially after how much grease it took. I was pumpin that gun for an eternity! :o
Oh, I then put the nipple back in the rear prop & replaced the screw :D
