dont take ay chances at this stage matey
do check all your earth's
but find a second means on monitoring temp as it could be telling the truth
personaly, id use this as a excuse to bin it and pit a proper guage that gives you a actual temp not just a cold norm and hot marks if you get me

i thought it was prob a dodgy earth on it but wondered if it would be a good idea to maybe flush out rad with a hose? to make sure its clear any ideas would be great
-
yeh do that too. get it right off and FLUSH. do the same with the intercooler.
then check the thermostat. make sure its opening at the right temp. (pm me if you want?!)
and then change the guage if still nothing is working.

thanks for the advice will do that n see if it helps i got new temp sender n thermostat to put in as well only cheap so may as well whilst im at it 8)

If it is a blocked rad don't mess about...change the Radiator & thermostat. Should be less than £100 for parts, allot cheaper than an engine rebuild!...has your one been in there long??
IMHO backflushing the radiator is not very effective...just delays the inevitable. With winter knocking on the door make sure the coolant/antifreeze mixture is ok too.

I agree with all the above, don't take any chances its not worth it.
But at the same time i don't trust land rover temp gauges, there rubbish, it would be well worth your time to do what Dan says and fit a non Land Rover gauge and sender its not difficult and the parts are pretty cheep!
I thought my 90 was over heating, i'd already had a new rad so i knew that was ok, changed the gauge and sender now no problems the stupid LR gauge was way way off!!
