well im new to this her goes :D
every time i go throw deep water the alternator stops charging could anyone help me and tell me why.
-
Ok...lets start with what engine/alternator :D
Does the belt slip when water hits it?
Have you tried waterproof conductive grease on the contacts?
-
well its a 2.5TD with a seira alternator
no the belt is tite and we have put conductive grease on the contacts
when we put a battery tester on when the engine is running it has no charge coming from the alternator :(
-
For how long does this no charge last after water bath?
I would say the alternator is shot, a new one should be cheap enough though.
-
i wont charge again
we have to put a new alternator on most times we come bk from off-roading
thanx 4 that m8

What sort of amp hour are these alternators? I would say you are burning them out nothing to do with the water...they don't like wd40 though
Try testing them before & after wading, also see how hot it is getting :?:
Could be your battery killing the alternator tool
-
i think there 65amp :?
i dont put wd40 on i put seler but it doesnt dry hard
ill have to get another battery
thanx 4 ur advice
-
65amp should be fine as long as you are not doing allot of winching...before you change another get your battery checked at ATS or similar
