Post by: disco-v8 on September 17, 2007, 01:17:32
ok simple little question, as a lot will no im getting my truck ready for an MOT but last time it went for one it was in standard form, and since then alot has changed....

just want to no if it ok to have:-

roller fairlead
swivle recovery eyes (the 1's that shackles go through)
shackles
winch cable/ winch hook

all sticking out at the front, cuz in my eyes these are very hard pointy items which could do alot of harm to someone, but then again so would a standard bumper

You should be fine with those.
If you have sharp edges on the outside you will fail e.g. if you run a cloth over it & it snags it too sharp.
You can put some gaffer tape over non structural sharp edges to get through MOT 8)

Gaffer tape (Black & Nasty) is brilliant stuff... it's a bit like "The Force"... it has a light side... a drak side... and it holds the universe together!

The MOT tester would have to be very very anal about it to fail it & i would have thought you would be fine however at the end of the day it is the testers opinion of what is sharp & a danger to the public. Have never seen one fail at our place tho.

I thought the sharp edges thing was for jagged and corroded outer body panels  :?

Could be wrong tho'
