Title: How about the definitive "where to waxoyl" thread?
Post by: spy on September 20, 2007, 21:46:57
I am doing my 110 this sunday assuming its dry enough.  I spent 2 long wet hours underneath it tonight with the jetwash, got absolutely soaked and covered in crap.

Anyway, I have read countless threads on mud club about waxoyl, I have read all the arguments re hammerite (or similar) verses wax products.  I have read several half threads about where and where not to paint / spray.

So, as I have chosen to waxoyl can anyone suggest a list of thing to spray and things to avoid?

Obviously I need to do chassis and avoid exhaust / brake discs and swivels.

There must be more to it than that surely?  How carefuly do I need to be to avoid props?  What about springs?  Come, on surely someone must know what they are doing!!

I would do chassis, floors, and areas that are prone to rot.... i wouldn't bother with axles, or other susp components..... avoid exhaust, and engine/boxes...... try not to over do the wiring bits too.....

bear in mind, it stays sticky for quite a while, so any road dirt/dust that gets kicked up will stick to it for a while........

Do spray the hard bits underneath.

Do not spray the soft bits inside.

Pay more attention to the bits you can't see rather than the bits you can

You needn't bother with the bottom of the floor as its aluminium....

I just do the chassis and the axle casings personally.

I was thinking I may do the floor if I have any left over just to deaden noise a little.

I have a litre of shutz and 10 litres of waxoyl so I may as well do a proper job!

Thanks for the help folks.

Footwells, door pillars B pillars and the pannel in front of the rear arches.  Rear cross member. Chassis inside and out.

On the Bulkhead try and get up the pillars or down them as much as possilble.

These are the bits that rot.
